Probity Core is free software released under the GNU Affero General Public License v3.0 or later (AGPL-3.0-or-later). For most users — internal compliance teams, auditors, and anyone willing to honour the AGPL — that license is all you need, at no cost.
This document is for everyone the AGPL does not fit.
The AGPL's key obligation: if you run a modified version of Probity as a network-accessible service, you must offer that service's users the complete corresponding source under the AGPL. You likely need a separate commercial license if you want to:
- Embed Probity in a closed-source product or distribute it without releasing your own source.
- Offer Probity (modified or not) as part of a SaaS / hosted service without making your source available to your users.
- Combine Probity with proprietary code in a way the AGPL's copyleft would otherwise reach.
- Obtain a warranty, indemnification, or a support agreement.
A commercial license removes the AGPL's source-disclosure and copyleft obligations under negotiated terms, and is the same agreement under which the proprietary Probity Enterprise overlay (live cloud connectors, the scheduler/dashboard service layer, audit PDF, and DORA / EU AI Act multi-framework mapping) is sold.
The sole copyright holder of both Probity Core and the Probity Enterprise overlay is Janier Rodríguez (individual). As the single rights holder, he is the only party able to dual-license the Core and to license the Enterprise tier.
Email jrodriguez@virtualcable.es with:
- Your company / legal entity name.
- How you intend to use Probity (deployment model, distribution, SaaS, etc.).
- Whether you also want the Enterprise overlay and/or a support agreement.
- Expected scale (users, environments) so terms can be sized.
You will get a quote and a license agreement. Nothing in this document is itself a license, an offer, or a waiver of any rights under the AGPL; it only describes how to obtain a commercial license.
