Topics
To edit topics, ensure Edit mode is enabled. Unlike the Moodle Topics format, the Multitopic format displays topics collapsed by default.
Topics can be added by clicking + Add topic at the bottom of the page. By default, Moodle allows up to 52 sections per course. This can be increased by a Moodle admin, but it is not recommended to increase it above 78, as this may prevent topics from collapsing.
It is not generally recommended to change the Level setting. The Topic duration override setting can be used to set the duration for the topic, if Topic duration is set in the course settings. The Collapsible override setting can be used to override the default from the course settings.
Moodle v4.2 adds an option to duplicate topics. There are several issues with this (see MDL-78080).
A topic can only be shown if the page containing it is shown.
The Move to previous page / Move to next page options can be used to move topics. Since Multitopic v4.1, if using the Boost theme, topics can also be dragged and dropped in the course index.
This may be relevant if an unexpected image appears in the topic summary. See Section Image under Pages--the same applies here.
From within resources and activities, a link is provided to return to the topic that contains it. If Moodle would normally have displayed links to the next and previous activities, these will be hidden.
