Unable to Create New File when opening today or Open today's Day Planner

I am using Periodic notes and Day Planner.
I create my daily notes ahead of time. I have a section for the Day Planner scheduled events and plan out my week in advance.
When I try to open today's planner I get the error File already exists. and nothing opens. Multi-day view does open but it doesn't have any of my events in it.

In the developer console I see the error that obsidian tried to create the file that is my daily note and triggered the error File already exists.

I found comments online about disabling the create note and/or the day planner template but I don't see a setting for Day Planner to create a note nor what template it should be using. I do use Templater to generate the daily and weekly notes from a template. These may be referring to an older version of the plugin.
