seems not reachable (404), despite closed #80.

https://esgf-node.llnl.gov/proxy/status from https://metagrid.readthedocs.io/en/latest/users/configurable_environment_variables/#metagrid_status_url does not seem to work either.

Thank you for reporting this issue.

The error you are encountering is, in fact, an expected behavior for now. The root cause is that the specific web page this feature originally relied on no longer exists. Nearly all CMIP6 Data Portals are gradually migrating to a new and more robust system called Metagrid.

This shift means that many parts of the epwshiftr package, which were dependent on the old data structure and access methods, need to be significantly refactored and updated to be compatible with the new Metagrid architecture. We will keep this issue open to track our progress on this front.

I ran into the same issue, and then none of the subsequent steps worked for me either. Just to confirm—by “MeteoGrid,” do you mean this site: https://aims2.llnl.gov/search? If so, can I manually download the required CMIP6 files from MeteoGrid, then build the index and manage them locally, and still use the rest of the program’s features with that workflow?

I’m brand new to R and CMIP6, so I might be asking naive questions—apologies if anything sounds odd. Thank you so much for your help!
