Hey there,

just wanted to check wether there are more people who think that instead of using the "lightbulb" accessory we should rather use the "speaker" so that for example the Volume doesn't skyrocket if you turn up all the lights in the living room?

Let me know what you think. I would be glad to help out. I've waited quite a long time for such a plugin to happen. Thanks!!

Lucas

Edit: As far as I can see this would break the ability to change volume using Siri. Not a huge problem for me so I will try to make the changes in a separate branch. I'll let you know when it works.

Information on the speaker service: homebridge/homebridge#1326 https://github.com/KhaosT/HAP-NodeJS/issues/389

Hi Luc-ass,

Many thanks for the suggestion, i did want to implement as a speaker, but I wanted Siri integration / IOS Home App support more. A way to change the channel from siri would have been very cool but i resorted to using homebridge-cmdswitch2 with a python app to do that. I'm not sure when speakers will be supported but prehaps more UI controls will be added to Home when AirPlay 2 is released.

Certainly give me a shout if you get it to work.
