Colors of Material does not match in 3 views

Changing it in the Resource Properties has no effect. But doing this in the Components View. Both do not synchronize live.

There are two different "Cartilage" material instances, so the editor works as intended. The current glTF importer does not expose the scenes internal resources from the imported glTF scene. When the Import Materials flag is enabled during glTF import, all materials in the glTF file are imported as independent instances instead of referencing the materials used inside the imported scene.

Okay, I understand now, that checking the import flag creates extra resources in FUDGE, correct? This way, we do not actually need to import the meshes, since they will be in the scene but simply not available as independent resource. Is this described somewhere in the Wiki?

But when I import the material, I'd expect that the meshes will then reference the extra resources, not the glTF internal ones still. That is not correct, right?

Yes, checking the flag creates extra resources. We currently do not have a Wiki entry on glTF import yet.

The glTF scene-internal resources and the extra imported resources stay independent, so the meshes inside the scene do not reference the extra imported materials.

I would expect otherwise as well, but when I implemented this behavior, I ran into issues dealing with the synchonisation of changes to the glTF file (e.g. through Blender). What happens if a material name or index changes in the glTF file? What if material properties change?

I remember that at some point we decided that the glTF file should remain the source of truth, meaning that on every reload we fetch the data from the glTF file again. However, that leaves no room for persistent changes to imported glTF resources from the FUDGE side.

Referencing the imported resources from the scene would only make sense if we had some kind of override or serialization system on top of the original glTF data. We could also add a feature that allows replacing imported scene materials with arbitrary FUDGE-internal materials, so that the internal material becomes the source of truth.
