Can't launch commands on MacOS

The following doesn't work on my machine:

Alt{K} = $(keymapperctl --type "A")

neither does this, with a fully qualified path

Alt{K} = $(/opt/homebrew/bin/keymapperctl --type "A")

Note that just running keymapperctl --type "A" in a shell does work.

I also tested that a basic rule like Alt{K} >> B works; I just can't get any command to work.

Hi, I finally found the time to try it out myself but I could not reproduce a problem.
First I had to correct the syntax of the sample you posted: It's Alt{K} >> ... and not Alt{K} = ....
keymapper and keymapperctl need to have identical versions. Does which keymapperctl output /opt/homebrew/bin/keymapperctl?
You could also try Alt{K} >> $(./keymapperctl --type "A"), which also worked on my machine.
