Hey,
Thank you for setting this up. It worked like a charm and created an image, running inside an unbuntu vm.

IMO this is more elegant than the openvario setup, and should be default.

Two options i'd like to explore:

  • Can we add a precompiled XCSoar binary?
  • Can we add the openvario shell from kedder?

It just that compiling software in my glider, kind of feels wrong. ;)

Excellent idea.
Up to now I used this for experimenting with getting an up-to-date system in a reproducible way, and to expriment
with the Mali and Lima.

I will expand it to pre-compile XCS, and integrate the OV-shell.

Right now there are instructions in /README.md how to compile XCSoar directly on the board, and how to cross-compile XCSoar on you (much faster) host computer based on the root file system on the SD card.
