Not sure if this is the right place, but I would like to report that I installed this version today using the GUI (over 11.2, core version 23.12.3), on my Virtual box installation running under Linux Mint 21.2, and everything still works as usual AFAIK |

Hello, I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to seek assistance with a deployment issue I am experiencing while trying to set up Home Assistant (HA) on my Raspberry Pi 3B. I have attempted the installation using two different SD cards, and I have followed the instructions closely as outlined in the official documentation at: https://www.home-assistant.io/installation/raspberrypi under the "WRITE THE IMAGE TO YOUR SD CARD" section. However, I have encountered a persistent problem: After successfully writing the Home Assistant image for Raspberry Pi 3 (RP3) to the SD card (I have also tried re-writing it multiple times to rule out SD card corruption), I insert the SD card into the Raspberry Pi 3B and power it up. Unfortunately, there is no activity on the device. The Raspberry Pi does not display a green light, and the only indicator is a solid red light, suggesting power but no boot activity. Additionally, there is no activity on the Ethernet port's indicator light. Just to rule out any issues with the Raspberry Pi itself, I have tested another SD card with a regular operating system, and it worked without any problems. I attempted to use more recent versions of Home Assistant OS (HAOS) available at https://github.com/home-assistant/operating-system/releases. Specifically, I tried both "haos_rpi3-11.3.rc1.img.xz" and "haos_rpi3-64-11.3.rc1.img.xz," hoping that these newer releases would address the problem. Unfortunately, I encountered the same issue with both of these versions—no successful boot or activity on the Raspberry Pi 3B. The red power indicator light remains solid, with no green light or Ethernet activity. I would like to ask if there are any alternative Home Assistant images or troubleshooting steps that I can try to resolve this issue and successfully deploy Home Assistant on my Raspberry Pi 3B. The image definitely works on Raspberry Pi 3 devices, we have many users using it on such hardware as well as I have testing devices running the image. Are you sure you have a Raspberry Pi 3 device? Is there something shown on HDMI? What you can try is editing the config.txt on the first partition and remove |

Thank you for your quick response! Yes, I can confirm that the Raspberry Pi model I'm using is the Raspberry Pi 3 Modelo B, which I purchased in Spain back in 2018. It has a 1.2 GHz Quad-core ARM Cortex-A53 CPU and 1GB of RAM. As for the HDMI connection, I haven't tried it yet, as I assumed I would be able to access Home Assistant through the web portal. I will give it a shot to see if anything is displayed on the HDMI screen and gather more information. I'll also follow your suggestion to edit the config.txt on the first partition and remove disable_splash=1 to check if it provides any additional information during the boot process. I want to emphasize that I don't doubt the integrity of the Home Assistant image, as it seems to be working well for many users. Based on your feedback and my research, it appears that my issue might be related to compatibility or a misstep during the setup process. Quick update: I've just tested the HDMI connection, and unfortunately, absolutely nothing is happening. As expected, the green LED isn't blinking at all, indicating no activity, and the screen remains black. Thanks for your ongoing support! |

Okay, I was curious about the model, and it turns out that I've been working with a Raspberry Pi 2 since 2018. I just found the invoice, and it confirms that I purchased a Pi 3 but got a Pi 2 instead and didn't even realize it until now... I want to thank everyone for their help and patience. It looks like my compatibility issue was due to using the wrong hardware all along. 🙈 I'll go ahead and source a Raspberry Pi 3, and hopefully, I'll have a successful Home Assistant setup soon. There are also Raspberry Pi 2 images available at https://github.com/home-assistant/operating-system/releases/tag/11.2. But in general, Raspberry Pi 2's are really on the lower end to get HA running these days. Rather than buy a Raspberry Pi 3, I'd rather suggest to buy a 4 or wait for a bit and get 5 even (Raspberry Pi 5 support is in preview currently). |
