I've seen this question in a few places. If you set Home Assistant to only run in the menu bar and use the checkbox in the app to launch it at login, a window appears. The way to avoid this is to not use the checkbox in the app to open at Login, but instead in System Preferences > Users & Groups, add the app to your login items and check the checkbox (which hides the app). Technically the window still appears, but it's hidden until you click on the Menu Bar icon.

( I also opened an issue on the iOS repository as if it can be fixed in the code this is a better solution.)

This workaround does not work for me on MacOS Monterey 12.0.1. Following your steps, the window still appears after login.

UPDATE: I did some more testing and the workaround only works if you have Home Assistant to run in the "Dock and Menu Bar" or "Dock Only". Otherwise, the login items checkbox to hide the app does nothing.
