Unexpected error when synchronizing thread credentials #4944
Comments
Unfortunately, this looks like an error in Google Play Services without any details for the app to use. The app only tells Google Play Services on your device about Thread networks, and then the initial commissioning is handled outside the app.
Is your device connected to a Wi-Fi network? Is the Thread network reachable from the Wi-Fi network? As a workaround, you might try clearing stored data for Google Play Services to clear up any old credentials. Keep in mind that this also clears other Google services like local Wallet data. |
Yes.
I think so. I have a home assistant yellow, which is on the same Wi-Fi-network and two devices are working.
I already tried, but it doesn’t help. |
wow not much for the app to go by, have you tried again later yet? 😝
May need to wait some time for the issue to resolve itself? |
I am trying for some weeks now, removed and reinstalled the app, … |
Can you try (re)installing the Google Home app while the device is connected to a charger and wait a couple of minutes? Shouldn't be required for Matter/Thread compatibility, but in the past that seemed to be the only way to trigger installation of those modules. Maybe by doing that it will fix whatever is broken inside Play Services. |
I installed the Google Home app, but it did not help either. But the app complains, it can not connect to the internet … |

Description of problem, include YAML if issue is related to notifications:
I had some problems with thread. Now I have separate hardware for zigbee and thread and I do not use multiprotocol anymore. Two of my thread devices were working correct, a third did not. I removed it and tried to add it again, but the companion app complains about a missing border router. Since I tried many settings, I think, I have to synchronize the thread credentials again, but I get an »unexpected error«. Unfortunately, I can not find any hints it the log.
