Associating events to names

I am trying to figure out how to get/set dates for each of a person's names.

When observing the API response for a person, I noticed this:

This seems to imply that alternate names can have dates associated with them. My questions are:

1. How do these date fields get set?
2. Can these names be associated to events and pull in that date (ex. married name associated to a marriage)?

No, the date and events are completely separate. Gramps Desktop has a normal date field you can set. I must admit I never used it 😊 Personally I feel if it's a "name after marriage" type it's redundant to add the date to the name. But there are certainly use cases for it.

But Gramps Web currently neither displays nor allows to edit that date. Would make sense as a feature request.
