Query not supporting dashboard variable JSONATA

I read this page where it is mention, we can use dashboard variable just like other variables in our JSONATA query. But it is not working for me. I tried displaying that just that variable into a table and it worked fine. But same thing is not working inside JSONATA query.

Can anybody has any idea ?

My dashboard variable key name is repo_name and it has value test1, test2,test3...
My query is given below:

    date : $sum([$.entries[repo=$repo_name].prod, $.entries[repo=$repo_name].preprod].count)
} ~> $each(function($v){$v})
