StarCraft 64 - something is missing after loading game save (not savestate)

image1 is the correct image display.
If you take a game save at this point/scene, then load the game save, you get 
to see image3 with the missing thruster effect.

If you take a game save prior to the swap to this scene, then load the game 
save, you get to see the correct image1.

same on PJ64 and 1964.

It is game save - not savestate.
