@tstrangio it looks like something is wonky with your GitHub for Windows installation - perhaps you can try to reinstall?

@tstrangio Have you tried following the instructions in that pop-up? Or Googling that error message?

Googled, uninstalled GitHub, installed Visual C++ 2014 Redistributable, installed GitHub again....GitHub launches fine now, just doesn't work from the 'Clone to Desktop' ... must be something with my browser cache ...

@tstrangio @garyweston had the same error

I installed the redistributable and rebooted and it didn't help. I'll try reinstalling github.

Tried clearing Chrome cache - same problem.

Tried using FireFox with a cleared cache - same problem.

Manually browsed to GitHub.exe on my file system (telling FireFox to use that executable when launching the external app after clicking Clone in Desktop) - same problem.

I can clone the recipes repo fine using the GitHub application.. select the +, your ID, select the repo, and 'clone'. That works. Just not working in the web cli

@tstrangio I know you tried to re-install, but were you downloading the latest version first? Chatting with some support engineers, they say that was a known issue and fixed within the last few weeks. Will be good to know if the fix didn't fully work.

I installed the redistributable and rebooted and it didn't help. I'll try reinstalling github.

This should be fixed in the latest update of GitHub for Windows, but it may require a reinstall. You can also download this redistributable to get things working:

The issue with the 'Clone in Desktop' button not working is something we know about, and we're working on tracking that down. As a workaround you can drag-and-drop a repository's URL directly into the app.

@patrickbm - I downloaded a new version of the GitHub for Windows installer today at 1130am US EST, but I have not yet rebooted

Also, the audio on this session has been in & out for the past half hour .... I'm hearing nothing for the past minute or so.

Is there a projected date/version when the fix will be live?
