Feature: Direct PR Link Redirection from Copilot App
Problem
When working in the Copilot Desktop app, I can see my PRs and sessions, but sometimes I need to use GitHub web functionalities that aren't available in the app (e.g., merging, managing reviewers, editing labels, viewing CI checks in detail, resolving conversations). Currently, I have to manually open a browser, navigate to GitHub, and search for the PR — this breaks the flow.
Proposed Solution
Add a "Open on GitHub" button/link on PR sessions and PR references within the app that:
- Opens the PR directly in the default browser with one click
- Works from the session list, PR cards, and within active sessions
- Supports deep-linking to specific tabs (Conversations, Files changed, Checks)
Why This Matters
- Reduces context switching — no need to manually search for PRs on GitHub
- Bridges the gap between app capabilities and full GitHub web features
- Complements the app rather than trying to replicate every GitHub web feature inside it
Use Cases
- Reviewing a PR in-app, then wanting to approve/merge on GitHub web
- Needing to check CI/CD pipeline details on a PR
- Sharing the PR link with teammates
- Managing PR settings (labels, milestones, reviewers) not yet available in-app
Competitive Edge
This "bridge" approach is smart — instead of rebuilding all of GitHub inside the app, just make it seamless to jump between the two. Best of both worlds.
