Why is Tach no longer maintained?

Hi, I noticed that Tach is now marked as "UNMAINTAINED." Could you please share why development has stopped and if there’s a closed-source successor or alternative in the works? Thanks for all your work!

I guess that's the issue with open source tools being backed by VCs. These tools will never be maintained if you can't make tons of money off of them.

i am interested in any expectation or guesses you have about the future of tach. this is not a request for you to bring it back to a maintained state etc, but rather to consider paths forward for other folks to continue maintaining and using it. being open source, specifically mit licensed, any of us could of course go off on our own and host a copy of the repo and publish under a different name on pypi. sometimes having some continuity is helpful though.

if gauge is permanently done in terms of maintaining tach, would there be any consideration of passing the tach name on pypi on to new maintainers? i understand that such a transfer involves an amount of trust. but, are you interested in considering this at all?

thanks for all your work on this project and for any thoughts you can share that would guide potential new maintainers in keeping continuity for users of tach.

I'm sad to hear about tach no longer being maintained. I have always seen Tach and Polylith (the thing I maintain) as two tools that complement & fit well together. Some features are overlapping, and if you're into Monorepos you might find Polylith interesting. I have gotten requests about implementing some things (at least similar) that tach has but the poly tool yet hasn't.
