Display support removed?

Hi,

I am just checking if I am correct in assuming that display support was entirely removed in commit 03efef0 (interestingly not mentioned at all in the commit message).

If so, is the intention we're meant to write external tools using the UDP Controller?

I couldn't see any announcements of this change nor documentation on the UDP controller. So, just wanted to confirm that my guess about what's happened/expected is correct, before I went about spending time looking into how to do that.

Yes, the display code was removed some time ago. It is now contained in the Display Driver software which communicates to the MMDVM Host via MQTT. MQTT is used for almost all inter-process communication bar the digital voice data. This has been discussed at some length on the OpenDV groups.io and I have done talks about it at Pacificon in 2023 and 2024 which can be found on YouTube.

Aha. OK thanks. I've not seen any of these talks. I had some customisations to the existing code to work with the LCD2004 screen which failed when I tried to rebase my own branch with the latest.

I see the Display driver project and probably it will be a minor task to bring the changes into that. If I can clean it up enough and parameterize it, maybe it'll become a PR. It's mainly for DMR to put the callsign/talkgroup on separate lines for each slot, using all 4 lines.
