HP MPP Pen writes while hovering

This is not specific to Rnote but happens in other programs as well.

My HP MPP 2.0 rechargable pen writes in the canvas while hovering. So i was wondering if there's any way to change how the minimum pressure constraint is applied by changing the code to set desired thresholds..

Do u guys have any idea abt it?? my pen starts writing abt 1 to 2mm while hovering

Can you give more details?

• on what OS? Linux or windows? What versions?
• On what hardware (if there are some specifics from this)
• If on linux, is it on X11 or wayland, on which DE?
• If on linux, what is the version and method of installation (flatpak or package manager)

What other programs? In any case, it seems more like a software/config issue and/or hardware related.

The issue is that the most important thing for stylus writing to work correctly is to have correct pen in/out events on the screen. Sometimes you can get the distance to the screen in the event details (but given the issue it's probably not correct).

The most I can do as a workaround is force a pen in/out event when the pressure gets >0/==0 (if the pressure input is reliable).
Though I'd prefer not to implement too much workarounds like this if there is a more proper way to go about this
