Default values?

It would be nice if the node::get_value had a default value argument, so that one would call

std::string my_string = config["params"]["my_string"].get_value<std::string>("my_sring is missing!");

Sounds good.
My thought on this is I would prefer creating a new function which returns some defalt value if an error occurs to avoid confusion about which overload throws an exception. Maybe named as get_value_or() or something.

Yeah, that would be nice as well. In fact, I've tried to overload get_value, but I got lost in a nightmare of template-related errors :(.

That's likely to happen and surely a down side of using templates... :(
I'll try to implement a new function.

The PR #485 has added get_value_or() which receives a default value returned if the conversion fails.
With the develop branch, you should be able to do the same as you described above using the new function.
