Bug: `Ctrl` + `C` doesn't copy highlighted text in the details pane

What feature or improvement do you think would benefit Files?

In the Details pane, when you are looking at various fields, it would be helpful if you could copy selected text using a keyboard shortcut (Ctrl-C). This avoids additional clicks of the other methods.

You can copy the selected text, if you right-click and then choose Copy or use the keyboard shortcut.

You can also trigger a right-click with Shift-F10, and then choose Copy, but that is a bit clumsy.

Thanks for the feedback, Ctrl + C is already suppose to copy the text so this is a bug

I wonder if this is being overridden by the copy file action. @dajo can you check what happens if you change the default shortcut for copying files to something else?

@yaira2 good call. That's it.

If Ctrl-C is enabled as the Copy Files shortcut, it copies the file, which is the standard behavior - regardless of whether the details text is selected. If the right-click menu has been triggered, then the text copying works - even with Ctrl-C.

If the shortcut is changed, then Ctrl-C copies the text selected.

So, this is a viable workaround. However, I think it would be ideal if it was able to recognize that the focus had changed after the text had been selected - and that the desire was to copy the text instead of the file.
