Using the same kinds of ioctls ifconfig uses instead of using posix_spawn and talking to wpa_supplicant through its

A malicious user can e.g. ln -s /etc/passwd /tmp/nw-aps and wait for root to call wireless, thus thrashing /etc/passwd.
A solution would be to use mktemp to create a temporary file and rename it to /tmp/nw-aps. ...

Sometimes, if no configured network is in reach, it looks like wireless causes the kernel to connect to a random open
wifi as if -nwid was specified on the ifconfig command line.
