To ensure notational consistency, the paper should standardize on a single subscript style:
- Left-associative:
${a_b}_c$.
- Right-associative:
$a_{b_c}$.
I suggest standardizing on the right-associative style as it is more readable.
Examples from Yellow Paper:
- a_{b_c}
- I_{\mathrm{H}_{\mathrm{p}}}
- {a_b}_c
- {I_{\mathrm{H}}}_{\mathrm{c}}
- {I_{\mathrm{H}}}_{\mathrm{s}}
- {I_{\mathrm{H}}}_{\mathrm{i}}
- {I_{\mathrm{H}}}_{\mathrm{a}}
- {I_{\mathrm{H}}}_{\mathrm{l}}
- [I_{\mathrm{a}}]_{\mathrm{b}}
- {I_{\mathrm{H}}}_{\mathrm{f}}
