adding tags

I've been using Fre:ac for years without real problems.
I just installed it on a friend's computer and it equally worked well immediately. However I noticed that when I processed a CD for him that the file included the cover art.
My files don't include cover art? Somehow that info is not being added to the 'tags'. Is there a configuration option I am missing? I don't see anything obvious aside from adding cover art manually from a local file; and not when downloading album info from the CDDB data...
