Kibana version: 8.17.0

Elasticsearch version: 8.17.0

Steps to reproduce:

  1. go to any dashboard
  2. add panels
  3. look for the field statistic

Expected behavior:
Field statistic should be listed here under visualisations

Screenshots (if relevant):
not sure if relevant, but I had a field statistic added to my dashboard in version 8.16.1 but after upgrading to 8.17.0 this is also not working:

Hi @behnam-ramouzeh,

Thank you for reporting this. What you’ve described is not a bug but an intentional decision. We’ve removed Field Statistics support for ES|QL in Discover and Dashboards as part of a broader shift to align ES|QL functionality with its unique architecture, which differs from DSL.

We’re actively working on a more robust approach to providing field statistics and similar data through ES|QL in a way that fits its model. Appreciate your understanding, and feel free to share any additional feedback or suggestions.
