Server-server API (federation API)

This ticket is going to be a bit unusual.

After recent rug pulls of Slack and Guilded, users and developers very well observe that centralised platforms are prone to rug pulls and bad practices. Hence I propose that Discord should reach application developers and ask their opinion for a standardised server-server API, to be able to interoperate across first party and third party (yes, there are five such implementations and three of them are open source) servers.

This will probably never happen. There are also a ton of privacy concerns with such an API lol.

I think the word erkin is looking for here is "Federation"

yes, but the API that would be used by that federation would be called the "server-server API", as opposed to the "client-server API"
