Apple Design Language + TestFlight Distribution

Implementation Complete ✅

Status: Successfully implemented Phase 1 & Phase 5, with design system foundation ready for Phase 2-4 Build Status: ✅ BUILDS SUCCESSFULLY - No errors or warnings Date: February 2025

🎯 What Was Accomplished

✅ Phase 1: Design System Foundation

Three powerful design system files created, providing all necessary utilities for Apple's design language:

1. shared/ui/design-system/apple-materials.swift (410 lines)

// Liquid glass containers
.liquidGlassCard(cornerRadius: 20, material: .thinMaterial)
.glassOverlay(cornerRadius: 16)
.glassContainer(cornerRadius: 16)
.glassPanel(cornerRadius: 16)

// Elevation system
.elevation(.low)    // Subtle
.elevation(.medium) // Standard
.elevation(.high)   // Prominent

// Typography extensions
.appleHeadline()
.appleTitle()
.appleBody()
.appleCaption()

2. shared/ui/design-system/apple-spacing.swift (120 lines)

// 8-point grid system
AppleSpacing.compact      // 8pt
AppleSpacing.standard     // 16pt (default)
AppleSpacing.comfortable  // 20pt
AppleSpacing.large        // 24pt

// Convenience methods
.standardPadding()
.compactPadding()
.horizontalPadding(16)
.verticalPadding(16)

3. shared/ui/design-system/apple-symbols.swift (200+ lines)

// SF Symbols with rendering modes
AppleSymbol("person.fill", renderingMode: .hierarchical)

// Factory with 30+ common symbols
AppleSymbols.home
AppleSymbols.profile
AppleSymbols.attendance
AppleSymbols.grades

✅ Phase 5: TestFlight Distribution

Complete infrastructure for distributing to testers:

1. ExportOptions.plist - App Store export configuration

  • Automatic code signing
  • Symbol upload enabled
  • Ready for Transporter upload

# Outputs: build/TestFlight/Hogwarts-TestFlight.ipa

Features:

  • Automatic cleaning and archiving
  • Size verification
  • Color-coded output

🚀 Immediate Next Steps

For Developers Using Design System

  1. Import design system in your views:

    import SwiftUI

    struct MyView: View {
        var body: some View {
            VStack {
                // Your content
            }
            .standardPadding()
            .liquidGlassCard()
        }
    }
  2. Reference the guidelines:

    • docs/apple-design-guidelines.md for patterns
    • docs/design-system-transformation-template.md for templates
    • Completed views: dashboard-content.swift (example)
  3. Apply to remaining views using template provided

For TestFlight Distribution

  1. Prerequisites:

    • Apple Developer account ($99/year)
    • App Store Connect access
    • Provisioning profile creation
  2. Build and upload:

    cd /Users/abdout/swift-app
    ./hogwarts/scripts/archive-for-testflight.sh
    # Then upload to App Store Connect via Transporter

🔍 How to Use the Design System

Example 1: Dashboard Card

struct DashboardCard<Content: View>: View {
    let title: String
    let systemImage: String
    @ViewBuilder let content: () -> Content

    var body: some View {
        VStack(alignment: .leading, spacing: 12) {
            HStack {
                Image(systemName: systemImage)
                    .foregroundStyle(.accentColor)
                Text(title)
                    .font(.headline)
                Spacer()
                Image(systemName: "chevron.right")
                    .foregroundStyle(.tertiary)
            }
            content()
        }
        .padding()
        .background(.background)
        .clipShape(RoundedRectangle(cornerRadius: 16))
        .shadow(color: .black.opacity(0.05), radius: 8, y: 4)
    }
}

Example 2: Inset Grouped Form

List {
    Section("Personal Information") {
        TextField("Email", text: $email)
        TextField("Phone", text: $phone)
    }
    .headerProminence(.increased)
}
.listStyle(.insetGrouped)
.scrollContentBackground(.hidden)

Example 3: Context Menu

.contextMenu {
    Button { edit() } label: {
        Label("Edit", systemImage: "pencil")
    }
    Button { copy() } label: {
        Label("Copy", systemImage: "doc.on.doc")
    }
    Divider()
    Button(role: .destructive) { delete() } label: {
        Label("Delete", systemImage: "trash")
    }
}
