Slurminade does some black-magic and if used wrongly, it can lead to unexpected behavior. Many users are actually students without much understandings of the internals of Python. However, even someone with the corresponding knowledge, can easily make mistakes and will then get very odd errors. Too make slurminade safer and easier to use, errors should be thrown early and directly contain an explanation of how slurminade was used wrongly. For example, it should be able to detect that you tried to decorate a local function, which slurminade has no chance to find on the worker.
