Hi @ozzy0xds — thanks for raising this, and totally fair question about size. I took the liberty of creating a fork and preparing a proof-of-concept implementation for LSP and static analysis

I've been working on LSP support on branch dev/lsp with that exact constraint in mind. Terax itself does not bundle language servers. The app stays a thin host:

• Startup bundle: unchanged — the LSP client is lazy-loaded only when you open a supported file in the editor.
• Terax binary: adds only the Rust plumbing (spawn, LSP framing, binary resolution, optional installer). Language servers are not baked into the installer.
• Optional weight: if you click “Install for Terax” in Settings → Languages, binaries go into app data (and a private Node runtime where needed) — same idea as VS Code/Zed downloading extensions, not shipping rust-analyzer inside the terminal binary.

So Crynta's concern about “Terax getting a lot bigger” is valid for a bundled approach, but this design avoids that: users who never enable LSP pay essentially nothing extra.

What you get when enabled:

• Diagnostics, completions, hover, go-to-definition
• Rust, TS/JS, Python, Go, C/C++, PHP, JSON/config, shell, plus deps hints in package.json / Cargo.toml / etc.
• Settings UI to install or link servers (including WSL on Windows)
• Debug log in the status bar if something isn't in PATH

I'll open a PR shortly so maintainers can review the trade-offs with real numbers. Happy to adjust scope (e.g. PATH-only, no installer) if the project prefers an even lighter first step.

Yep, this shipped. LSP support landed across #919, #929 and #937: opt-in language servers with editor integration, diagnostics, references, and 13+ languages. Closing as done, thanks for raising it.
