Are session search useful as a tool? How is it different from Handoffs?

I got this idea from the following repo, and it has more details than handoff. What would the trade-offs be between forgetting sessions completely, using handoff, and digging into sessions directly? https://github.com/Dicklesworthstone/coding_agent_session_search
