Btrfs native RAID using encrypted disks (LUKS)

Describe the enhancement

Would be nice to have full benefits of using Btrfs' native RAID on encrypted disks (LUKS), will full configuration and management via the Cockpit UI. With options to automatically unlock the encrypted disks, or provide encryption keys during manual mounting of the disks and file system (my use case).
This would require full support of Btrfs native RAID in Cockpit (not the case at time of writing).

Which cockpit version did you use for testing? We do have a PR open related to luks and btrfs

Currently using Debian 12 with version 287.1, where I have ext4 on LUKS on raid1. I'm preparing to move to btrfs with native raid1, but understood this is not yet fully supported via Cockpit UI, and requires command line set-up and management. I rather wait until my new set-up is fully supported (no hurry here), otherwise why have Cockpit if you still need command line... I added this feature request to ensure the btrfs raid1 on top of LUKS is also on de radar of the developers.

I just tested my intended set-up using Debian 13 (testing) which currently includes cockpit version 337-1.
Seems most of it is already in working order, except I needed to prepare BTRFS RAID1 via comand line using:
sudo mkfs.btrfs -L BTRFS -d raid1 -m raid1 -f /dev/dm-0 /dev/dm-1
I can mount the subvolume by mounting one of the disks.
After rebooting, two encrypted disks are shown.
After unlocking the two disks, the BTRFS subvolume is automatically mounted.
The information page of the subvolume shows the two devices that make the BTRFS subvolume.
After unmounting, I cannot lock the disks (because they are used). I couldn't find a way to get this resolved.

What is miss:

• Option to create the BTRFS RAID1 within Cockpit UI
• Any information on the BTRFS subvolume showing that it is configured as RAID1
• A way to lock the disks again (after unmounting)

I'm pleased to see that it is further than the impression I initially got from reading the open issues.

Multi device support is tracked here #19961, it really needs a better udisks or btrfs API. Which means in part solving kdave/btrfs-progs#761
