Description
ClickToDial is currently a Sandbox API and has previously targeted the Fall25 meta-release with its initial version 0.1.0-alpha.1. During the Fall25 cycle, the proposed release failed the M3/M4 review, mainly due to API design aspects and misalignment with CAMARA Commonalities.
Following Release Management’s recommendation, we closed the Fall25 release attempt and focused on addressing the review comments directly in the ClickToDial repository (PR#47 and related issues).
We would like to request Spring26 meta-release participation by exception, as described in the recent Release Management communication:
- ClickToDial is a late drop-out from Fall25.
- The API is now a near-final initial API:
- Major review comments from the previous Fall25 attempt have been addressed.
- The design has been reworked into a CAMARA-style RESTful API.
- We believe we can meet the tight Spring26 schedule with a limited, well-controlled scope.
We understand that Spring26 is not the recommended target for new API releases and that participation is reserved for exceptions. For ClickToDial, however, we see value in:
- Avoiding a long gap between the failed Fall25 attempt and a first public version.
- Alignment with operator demand for standardized call-control capabilities, and continuation of previous CAMARA discussions on voice/RTC interactions.
On behalf of the ClickToDial codeowners and maintainers,
Yading Fang
