Commonalities Discussion: MCP Integration Work streams

Context

• Issues: MCP (Model Context Protocol) White paper review and TSC approval for start of CAMARA work on MCP Governance#202 (202 MCP Roadmap), MCP Initiative - Define Ownership and Implementation Plan for CAMARA MCP Roadmap Governance#203 (203 Ownership Plan)
• Goal: Evaluate Commonalities as primary coordinator for MCP integration and Implementation
• MCP Purpose: Connect CAMARA APIs with Large Language Models

Proposed Commonalities Ownership

1. Design Guidelines (Section 5.1)

• Evolve API guidelines for LLM compatibility
• Standardize parameter naming and error responses
• Add natural language prompts and LLM friendly descriptions to docs

2. MCP Tools & Prompts (Section 5.2)

• Create/maintain MCP function descriptions for all APIs
• Develop tool mappings and reference implementations

Coordination Requirements

• ICM: Security guidelines (OAuth, consent management)
• Release Mgmt: Quality requirements and testing

Hi all,
to avoid duplication on the next steps on MCP, I propose to close the discussion here and focus on the issue camaraproject/Governance#203.

That issue gathers all input information and should result in new issues in Commonalities, ICM and possibly in the API Sub Projects.

The TSC white paper review is covered by issue camaraproject/Governance#202 which will be closed shortly.
