This item was discussed at the 2022-07-28 meeting.

There was agreement to keep this item in the backlog but to revisit once the SMBRs are finalized, as the SMBRs define the validation requirements and certificate profile for the inclusion of LEIs in certificates.

Corey, the SMBRs have been already voted and approved, should we move on with this change in the EVG? And only in the EVG?

We assigned this item a lower priority during our backlog grooming in July in favor of higher priority items, but I can raise your question on the next call to see if there's interest in bumping up the priority with the passage of the SMBRs.

Discussed at 11/2/23 Validation subcommittee meeting. This items needs someone to propose a ballot that would allow the use of LEI in place of a registration number.

Now that the conversion of EVG to RFC 3647 is de facto complete, I intend to propose the following (which have been in use as part of the S/MIME BR):
