Upgrading without losing all programs and settings (ex-Flyby11)

When i use method 1 and follow the prompts it gets me to the point where it asks what to preserve. Keeping my settings and apps is grayed out, while keeping all personal files is selected. So in order to do this upgrade i would have to lose all my installed applications and settings? That's certainly not how it works on a normal windows 11 compatible upgrade. Is that the compromise that needs to be made here or am I doing something wrong.

This often happens when the installation media and the installed version are mismatched. A common cause is a language discrepancy, but it’s also worth verifying the version details. I tried to set all to US <> US but I'm geo-blocked from US ISO versions

also tried reverting from 1.16 to 1.12 and same issue (or sometimes 1.12 spins wheels indefinetly on update check, reboot inbetween each attempt (using EN-intl ISO & EN-GB language for all on PC

next will try [EN-US ISO] & [EN-US pc language] but significant geo-blocking by Microsoft (in Australia) not using vpn

OK Found need to set en-US ISO + EN-US Windows Language on PC - THEN it allows preservation of files, settings, apps option

En-INTL ISO + EN-GB Does not work

I also am trying to upgrade, and having the same problem. Images show what I mean. I have downloaded what I believe is the right language ISO (1), i even checked Dism and lpksetup (2), they both say I have one language pack and its pt-BR. The option "Mantain files, configs and apps" appears (3), and I choose it. I reach the same "What needs your attention" page as ianfinlay, and it says this PC cannot be upgraded to this version of windows. I have the option to advance (4), but I'm afraid of losing my files. May I proceed?

Yes that was it, I selected English international instead of English US

Da ich nicht weiß, wie dein System lokalisiert ist, würde ich dir empfehlen, die ISO-Datei über das MediaCreationTool.bat von AveYo herunterzuladen

Hier wird auch automatisch die Sprache deiner aktuellen Windows-Installation erkannt. Diese ISO dann an Flyby11 übergeben

Vielen Dank für Deine Antwort und die Hilfestellung. MediaCreationTool.bat hat de.de analysiert und ich habe die entsprechenden ISO heruntergeladen und an Flyby11 übergeben. Allerdings ist auch hier nicht die Auswahl auf "Daten, Einstellungen übernehmen" weiterhin nicht aktiv?

Hi, Gib in PowerShell folgenden Befehl ein, um dir die Original-Systemsprache anzeigen zu lassen:
Get-WinSystemLocale
Der LCID 1031 sollte de-DE entsprechen, wenn ich mich nicht irre.
Möchtest du auf Windows 11 Version 24H2 upgraden oder planst du den großen Sprung von Windows 10 auf Windows 11? Mit dem Release 2.3 kannst du auch schon prüfen, ob deine CPU die erforderliche Kompatibilität erfüllt:

Hi Belim,
Der PowerShell Befehl gibt LCID 103 de-DE an. Ich plane den großen Sprung von Win10 auf Win11 und nutze auch den Release 2.3 und CPU/SSE 4.2 werden mit grün bestätigt. Upgrade Probality - Very High!
Ich habe auch bereits die Option mit dem Komptabilitätspatch mittels USB-Stick versucht. Aber es wird einfach in keinem der Fälle die Option "Beibehalten von Dateien, Einstellungen und Apps" angeboten.

Hello again, Entweder passt die Sprache nicht (du hast zb de-DE drauf, aber die ISO ist en-US oder de-AT. Dann würde es reichen wenn die Systemsprache in Windows 10 änderst), oder die Edition stimmt nicht (z.B ist Windows 10 Pro installiert, heruntergeladene ISO aber nur Home). Regionseinstellungen also LCID-Konflikte sollten es nicht sein und Architektur kann nur 64bit

Wenn deine ISO z.B. de-AT (Deutsch Österreich) oder en-US (Englisch USA) wäre, dann zählt Windows das als Sprachunterschied => keine Beibehaltung möglich!
Du kannst noch in der gemounteten ISO, mal einen Rechtsklick auf die setup.exe der ISO > Eigenschaften > Details machen (oder im Ordner sources, da liegt auch eine Datei lang.ini) Darin steht die Sprachinfo. Gleiche die Editon auch nochmal ab (Von Home > Home=Grün, Home > Pro= Würde scheitern)

I also had this option greyed out. I was able to change my system locale and then the option became available again. I followed this guide: https://www.reddit.com/r/techsupport/comments/a69buf/comment/ebtbls1/

I had downloaded English International ISO but my system locale was set to en-US
I switched to en-AU with Language ID 0C09 and it all worked.
