What are the benefits of this standard over the Verifiable Credentials standard?

A unified approach. There is a lot of flexibility with VC, but this can be a curse when it comes to standardization, interoperability, and building strong network effects. For all certificates under this scheme, we mandate:

  • Selective disclosure of fields
  • 256-bit AES-GCM encryption
  • UTXO-based revocation on BSV
  • Standardization of algorithmic primitives
This makes everything simpler for implementers and facilitates greater interoperability, while still supporting the core value proposition: certificates people can take with them anywhere.
