`tracecomp` silently fails when write persmission is missing

I think, `tracecomp` creates a file `tracecomp.contdiff` which is then printed to the console. If this file exists, but write permission is missing, `tracecomp` will silently fail and always report the statistics already present in the existing `tracecomp.contdiff`.
