Can awswrangler.redshift.read_sql_query execute insert statements into redshift?

Is it possible to use awswrangler.redshift.read_sql_query to perform an insert statement into an existing table? I would like to join a couple tables from an existing redshift database and write the result to another table in redshift. I don't need to pull the results into a pandas dataframe.
