Kafka is already 0.10, and no commits for 6 months..

Is there an alternative?

https://github.com/SOHU-Co/kafka-node/ seems to be maintained still.

Not actively maintained at the moment due to lack of time - however if you would like to take this on happy to open the repo to you!
