Google Summer of Code (GSoC) 2026

Last year the DataFusion project participated in the Google Summer of Code project: github.com//issues/14478

There have been a regular series of inquiries on discord about if DataFusion will participate in the program this year. In my opinion, if we want to do this we need a champion who will spearhead the project and get our application together by Feb 3.

Hi @Jefffrey @timsaucer, I noticed that many sub-projects from last year were left unfinished. We might consider submitting those unfinished project ideas again to make future work easier, even if we eventually don’t find suitable mentors or mentees.

Is datafusion taking part in upcoming gsoc??
I guess we are post deadline already !

I suggest leaving this discussion topic open until the deadline, in case anyone wants to jump in at the last minute to run the project. Otherwise I think we should probably take down our GSoC page on our web page to avoid confusion.

yeah, it is a pity given the excitement around GSOC last year, but we really need bandwidth for it to be a positive experience for all involved.
