Can we please raise this as a priority? The fact that Anthropic doesn't support changing the email address associated with an account means customers risk losing years of prompts, conversations, and history when their email changes. This is a significant issue for businesses, where employees frequently change roles or leave the company. Claude's export function is also inadequate. it isn't complete or lossless, making it impossible to reliably preserve or migrate an account's full history. This should be treated as a high priority feature request. |

There are far more mundane reasons this needs to be added, such as name changes. Someone joins the company, their email is j.smith, they get married, their email is now j.allen. SSO is now broken by default. |

Yes please. This is my number one issue. I work for myself as a consultant. I have an extensive chat and project built up for it. I also have one or two small personal things, like chats working on cars (which you are not very good at, but if nothing else, I am helping you learn). |

It's really painful this can't done, I am about to move jobs, and will effectively lose everything. Considering using another tool that provides this rather than face the same thing again. Pretty basic stuff, didn't occur to me to check this as assumed it would be part of basic account management. See OpenAI supports this now |

Upvote here. Company rebranded so the domain is different. I can still login because we aliased the old domain to the new one. But google account reads as different, so I essentially need to "forgot password" and login with a link every time. "Just cancel your account and start a new one" being the answer is a bit short-sighted and belittling. Get ahead of it, please :) |

I need to change the primary email address on my account to my business Google Workspace address. Forcing users to delete their account, cancel paid subscriptions, and lose their setup just to change an email domain is unacceptable for a professional tool. |
|
Just to add to this - it seems they don't even use google Oauth correctly (they use your static email address rather than the UUID on your google account). |

This is a basic account admin feature. It causes so many issues and is a simple feature that users expect to be able to do. Email address changes are caused by so many different reasons. |

As I have described my situation in the comment below, I would be very grateful if this feature could be implemented. |

Having similar issues to many here. I originally signed up using Google OAuth with a personal Gmail address. I later migrated that Gmail account to Google Workspace under my own domain (a very common small business/solopreneur move). Google treats this as the same underlying account — I can still access the original inbox and there's only one Google login. But OAuth now returns my new Workspace address instead of the original Gmail address, and since Claude matches accounts by the literal email string rather than a stable Google account ID, "Continue with Google" creates a brand new empty account instead of logging me into my existing one. I confirmed with support that there's no self-serve or manual backend option to reassign the email on an existing account — the only current path is exporting data and rebuilding from scratch, with no chat history transfer. Even a one-time manual reassignment option (verified through both addresses) would solve this without requiring a full self-serve email-change system. This seems like it'll keep happening as more users move from personal Gmail to custom-domain Workspace setups. |

Agreed this is stupid and Anthropic may lose me as a customer (Max20 level) over this. I wanted to change as corporate email was slow and risky - and I was utterly astonished this can not be done. Add to this I now have to login every day on every device FOR WHATEVER reason, wait 5 min for the email to pass corporate filtering, with NO OTHER LOGIN METHOD, and this is a huge pain point. |

Can I get two votes. Upvote, Upvote. Please. I was an early adopter and mistakenly set it up under a work account. Now I want to move on and not lose all my history. |

80 votes? It should be 8 million, this feature is so important! For example, I use my university email and at some point I won’t be able to access it anymore. It’s actually quite simple: they just don’t want to deal with any support requests about that whether for hacked accounts or anything else… but that’s just cowardly |

Gracias! |

WHY THIS MATTERS
Currently, Claude accounts are permanently locked to their initial registration email. If a user loses access to a corporate domain (due to business closure, domain migration, or partnership changes), they face immediate and permanent data loss. Same goes for other outside factors like personal emails that could have been hacked, etc..
Many of us have invested hundreds of hours building out specific Claude projects, contexts, and historical data that cannot easily be migrated.
Competitive Baseline
Competing AI platforms, such as OpenAI's ChatGPT, have already rolled out the native ability for users to securely update their login email addresses.
Claude users need this fundamental account management feature to protect their historical context and ensure workspace continuity. Please cast your vote below to help bring visibility to the Anthropic engineering team!
