Using artists old name when name is updated in musicbrainz

When adding a particular artist, they are added to the list under their deadname. This is not the name on musicbrainz anymore and is not universal to all artists.
To reproduce:

1. Add artist "Patricia Taxxon." That name returns the correct artist.
2. Once added, the artist name reverts to another. I can not find this name listed on musicbrainz anywhere but it must exist.

This does not happen for all artists that have changed their name, you can search "Laura Jane Grace" and it will only find her correct name and not any previous ones, so im not sure if its a problem with the database or how names are pulled from it.
