UI Issues Resolution - Final Report

Executive Summary

All reported UI issues in the Repo-lyzer application have been RESOLVED:

✅ Issue 1: Menus Not Displaying

Status: FIXED

  • Main menu now displays with 6 options (expanded from 4)
  • All options visible and properly styled with emoji indicators
  • Menu properly centered and rendered in application interface

✅ Issue 2: Add Submenus Inside Main Menus

Status: IMPLEMENTED

  • 3 submenu groups added:
    1. Analysis Type Selection (Quick, Detailed, Custom)
    2. Settings Menu (Theme, Export, GitHub Token, Reset)
    3. Help Menu (Shortcuts, Getting Started, Features, Troubleshooting)
  • Full navigation support with Enter/ESC keys
  • Context-aware submenu titles and hints

✅ Issue 3: Unable to Compare Repositories

Status: VERIFIED AND WORKING

  • Compare feature fully implemented and integrated
  • Accessible via main menu option "🔄 Compare Repositories"
  • Complete workflow: two-step input → loading → results display
  • Export functionality to JSON and Markdown
  • Side-by-side metric comparison

Modifications: Complete enhancement for submenu support

Added Fields:

Purpose: Handle submenu entry logic based on cursor position

  • Case 0: Analyze submenu (3 analysis types)
  • Case 1: Compare (direct action)
  • Case 2: History (direct action)
  • Case 3: Settings submenu (4 settings)
  • Case 4: Help submenu (4 help topics)
  • Case 5: Exit (direct action)

Enhanced View Function (Lines 143-169)

Improvements:

  • Check for submenu state
  • Render submenu if active
  • Maintain original menu rendering logic

New Function: submenuView() (Lines 171-229)

Purpose: Render submenu interface

  • Context-aware titles based on submenu type
  • Proper styling and visual hierarchy
  • Navigation hints for users

Status: ✅ Verified - Complete implementation present

Workflow:

User selects "🔄 Compare Repositories"
