Folder and Metadata Handling #16

Description

@cory5412

I apologize for cramming so much into a single issue/request. Thank you for your time on this tool so far, in the time I've been using it (since like 2022) it's gotten massively better and easier to use in that time, at least in conjunction with the MiniDisc tools.

This is sort of a feature request, and it's potentially/arguably two or three things.

Firstly, and you may already have this on your own wishlist, as a follow-on to #12 - is it possible to use id3 metadata in source files to pre-populate fields in OMA files made using SMLE? (Ideally with an option to allow unattended or not be asked for confirmation on each track, when several are brought in at once.)

Secondarily, there is "more than zero" interest within the MiniDisc scene for tools that automate the -> ATRAC3 conversion process in bulk, e.g. for a whole music collection, to pre-create files at the LP2/4 bit-rates for use with Web MiniDisc Pro. See https://www.reddit.com/r/minidisc/comments/1jrcljf/need_for_an_offline_good_user_friendly_dockerless/ for some more on this.

Seems like with SMLE/OMA creation it could be suitable for folks using SonicStage with other ATRAC hardware as well.

In service of that, I realize this potentially is a bit of a scope creep, but is there a way to get ATRACtool Reloaded working with folders (incl. subfolders) as an input, and to recreate the existing or a new folder structure on the output, similar to how https://freac.org does.

(FREAC has two modes for how it outputs folders and files as far as I can tell: one replicates the existing filenames and whole folder structure, but with the new extension, and the other lets you define a new folder structure and file names based on ID3 tags, I don't know if it's worth providing both options and I think it would be fine to carry the existing folder structure and names through, again, if that's doable.)

Thank you again for your time on this!
