Videos on this package show that the user creates a Shader Graph and puts the Shader Graph into a Material. Then on the Hair Instance component, the video selects a field named "Material" to apply the user's material. Issue is that the Material field is not on the component, and there is no way to change the hair from 'rainbow' material to a different color.

Ahh !! Found it -- on Hair Instance component, user has to click a pencil icon under heading "Strand Settings", then they appear. The text in the text box next to the pencil icon says "Defaults (All Groups)" , but this does not provide any hint about the hidden settings.

Unchecked, there is nothing suggesting user could find the settings:

Found it, with pencil icon clicked.
Suggestions:

  • make the headers like "Strand Settings" stand out more, the faded text is hard to see
  • add a description of settings user would find, maybe like: "Strand Settings (Skinning, Rendering, Materials)"
