If the app supports both vpn and root mode (like for example adaway) it will continue to be open to all Android users.
Or more, because some users can't use the app because they use a VPN. So, +1 for this feature.

I too would like to have an option for rooted devices where the VPN slot wouldn’t be used. I always forget to re-enable TC after using a VPN.
