Add patch panel as a new hardware type. Patch panels have ports (with speed and port type). Typically a switch port is connected to the patch panel port and at the other end of the wire a server/laptop/other device is connected.
So in fact two devices are connected to the same patch panel port (or they are connected through the same patch panel port). Or each patch panel socket can be modelled as a pair of ports so that the switch can connect to one of the ports and a server can connect to the other port of the same pair.
What problem does it solve?
This would allow to document more details of the physical connections, e.g. through witch patch panel port is a server connected to a switch etc.
