Hacktoberfest

  • An event that focuses to promote open source
  • You have to open 4 PRs on valid repositories on GitHub within the month of october to win exicting goodies and a t-shirt of Hacktoberfest
  • Make sure to register yourself on the given website to be eligible for prizes
  • It is recommended to make PRs which actually contribute to the project not to just increase your count

Google Kickstart

  • Competitive Coding contest conducted by Google
  • One round every month, featuring 3 questions
  • The questions are based on applying general competitive concepts. Analysis of questions give great intuition on how to tackle the problems and think like a programmer.

Hour of Code

  • One-hour introduction to computer science, designed to demystify coding
  • Takes place each year during Computer Science Education Week
  • Global effort to expose more people to the basics coding, students can participate or host events to get the public exposed to the world of programming and help improve the programming community globally.

Project Euler

  • Misc. Computer Science problems/questions that encourage critical thinking and developement of skills outside of typical education environment
  • Keeps students critical problem solving skills sharp if what they are currently learning is not stimulating or they just really love CS!
  • This is an ongoing. constantly maintained site that is updated weekly with new projects to stay up to date with any and all new CS skillsets and can be helpful for people both in and outside of the traditional schooling world.

Adobe India Women-in-Technology Scholarship

  • Scholarship for female students of India
  • Gives opportunity of Summer Internship at Adobe India plus full academic tuition fee funding for 1 year
  • Provides scholarship for Grace Hopper Conference, India.
  • Eligibilty
    • A female citizen of India currently enrolled as a full time student in an Indian university.
