[Game Crash] Game crashes when USB dance mat is plugged in, or when game is started with mat already plugged in #764

Describe the crash

Started game
Plugged in external dance mat (compatible with MacOS)
Game crashed

Mat was purchased from ddrpad.com - confirmed it's compatible with Stepmania/Outfox and MacOS

How can you reproduce the error?

Restarted computer
Start game
Plug in mat
Game crashes

Or

Plug in mat
Open game
Game crashes

Mat I purchased: http://ddrpad.com/en-ca/collections/home-pads/products/stepmania-usb-thick-foam-soft-pad

Also attempted to map the pad using GamePadTool app, no improvement
