Search and Filter Transactions

It would be awesome to be able to search/filter transaction based on various criteria.

• Search or filter Tags (or if you implement the colon notation on tags from Category groups & payee #78, i.e. "group:housing" or "account:paypal", being able to search for the "group type" like "account")
• Filter by date range
• Filter by category
• Search description
• Search transaction amount

And being able to combine these to hone in on the transactions we're looking for. The use case for me is both my wife and I share a spreadsheet of "transaction" and I'd like to move to something a little more purpose built. If I am adding things that she is not sure what it is on the CC or something, being able to search for things from a specific account or store (which could be a little more clear with "account:paypal" notation, or searching for a specific dollar amount, that would make this more functional for my use case.

I didn't see a similar issue/enhancement request. Just a couple suggestions that would truly enhance my experience and could get my family on board for using it :)

hey @pxlnic , thanks for this request. 100% agree these will be useful.

on the tag piece, i'm not planning to add a key:value format specifically, i want it to be arbitrary, so you can use any key:value as you see fit. idea is to define filters around that so you can filter based on key values if needed. i.e., you'd be able to filter account:paypal or simply paypal, it should be a string match (at least currently that's how i see it in my head)

other than that, filters is definitely planned and am looking forward to adding that. realistically the timeline looks like this - i will do a frontend refactor into tailwind, so it's easy to maintain elements. then i will add table filters and additional analysis pieces
